FAQs

What is Puffin Picks?

Puffin Picks is a new type of restaurant delivery service for the East Neuk of Fife. We select some of the most interesting local menus, to help you have a delicious chef-prepared meal at home.

How does it work?

Restaurants post their menus every Monday, and customers pre-order through our website by the Thursday cut off time for a Friday delivery. For more details on the process click here.

What sort of partners do you work with?

We are on a mission to find exciting, fresh, modern food from a range of cuisines. We prefer to work with independent outlets who take care in the food they produce. This means we are constantly scoping for suitable partners, and will add more high-quality local menus as the service develops.

What sort of menus do you offer?

Our emphasis is on interesting and different food, expertly created. Our restaurant partners may offer a limited or seasonal menu for Puffin Picks customers. Menus are also designed to suit being reheated at home.

Where are you based?

We operate from a community space in Cellardyke on the days we deliver. This allows us to check orders and deliver fresh food within tight timescales.

Where do you deliver?

We currently deliver to East Neuk coastal villages between Crail and Elie (KY10 and selected KY9 postcodes). We hope to expand further inland and to neighbouring villages soon.

What time do your deliveries arrive?

Our drivers will deliver your orders on Friday afternoon, typically between 4 and 6pm. If you have any specific instructions you can let us know. It may also be possible to deliver earlier in the afternoon (depending on the specific menu, and your address) so please ask if that would suit you better.

Why don’t you deliver hot food?

We deliver meals that have been freshly prepared by chefs, then chilled to be brought to your home. This means we can offer a wider and more eclectic range to our customers in a rural area.

How do you transport the food?

All food is transported in refrigerated coolboxes, apart from some elements (e.g. bread) that need to be kept at ambient temperature.

What does the delivery charge cover?

The delivery charge of £4 covers transportation of food from further afield restaurants, checking / collating at our hub, and ensuring delivery drivers are paid fairly.

What are your Covid safeguarding measures?

We operate a contactless delivery at the doorstep, with delivery drivers wearing masks as an additional safeguard. All vehicles and coolboxes are sanitised daily.

Do you cook or handle the dishes?

No, we leave that to the chefs – all food is packed in the respective restaurant kitchens, and delivered directly to the customer.
